With political tension between Russia and United States I find it interesting despite the current conflict my experience in Moscow was a very memorable, once-in-a-lifetime learning journey that I’ll never forget. Despite the political discord, I remember a question I asked myself during my time in Russia. I asked, “Why am I in a different country?” In my mind, traveling seemed out of the ordinary. I’ve come to realize that, sometimes, I’ll subconsciously place holds or boundaries on myself that keep me from traveling, stepping out of my comfort zone or achieving success. I came to the conclusion that, instead of looking to someone else for inspiration, perhaps I need to become that inspiration for someone else.
Aside from the inspiration, one of my deepest findings was that I realized that people are similar more than they are different no matter what country they come from. From my experience, I believe that there are some things that have to be experienced first hand. Deep down in my heart, I’m honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to travel and gain a global perspective of the world around me.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with new forms of graphics as a way for personal expressionism. Specifically, the process of double exposure is one technique that I’ve been fascinated with. Double exposure is the repeated exposure of a photographic plate or film to light, often producing ghost images. There are two forms of achieving double exposure, digital and analog. The pictures below are digitally double exposed by using a Canon 5D MarkIII and photoshop.
The two exposed images are of myself and a few creative/historic places in Moscow. Out of the thousands of photos I captured, the landscape pictures I selected below are ones that admire and love the most. These areas have value to me due to the history and meaning behind them.
